In today’s episode, I’m speaking with leading functional medicine expert Dr. Will Cole, whose work I appreciate and respect so very much. Dr. Cole has been named one of the top 50 functional-medicine and integrative doctors in the nation, and specializes in clinically investigating underlying factors of chronic disease and customizing a functional medicine approach for his patients.

Dr. Cole is also the bestselling author of Ketotarian (https://drwillcole.com/ketotarian), The Inflammation Spectrum (https://drwillcole.com/the-inflammation-spectrum), and his latest book Intuitive Fasting (https://drwillcole.com/intuitive-fasting), in which he shows how to use the powerful benefits of flexible intermittent fasting to gain metabolic flexibility and find food peace.

There is truly so much to glean from my conversation with Dr. Cole, but here are some of my favorite takeaways:

  • When it comes to your health, remember that “common” does not mean “normal.” Each individual’s health issues are individual and should be addressed as such.
  • Intermittent fasting keeps your metabolism more flexible and can lead to renewed health by teaching the individual to take control of their hunger by becoming more mindful about how and when you eat.
  • What works for you today might not work for you a year from now, so make sure to check in with your body and modify your approach to health as needed.
  • Healthy living is believing in self-care as self-respect, and living so that you can achieve both.
