Fitness trackers can be wonderful and practical tools used to record a person’s daily physical activity, steps taken and calories burned, but it’s important to make sure that you set appropriate parameters for their use. In this podcast, I’m sharing my experience using a fitness tracker and how my relationship with this tool has evolved over time.
My first experience using a fitness tracker led to me losing sight of my fitness goals because I was fixated on the numbers, rather than focusing on participating in physical activities which I truly enjoyed that were healthy for my body. Over time however, I’ve learned to learn to use my fitness tracker mindfully and I advise my clients to do the same.
As you’ll hear in this episode, I’m describing some of the concerning signs to watch for when using a fitness tracker, like becoming overly attached to a specific exercise routine, as well as some ways in which fitness trackers can be really good tools for folks learning to make exercise part of their life. I hope you’ll take a listen!
