Stress is often unavoidable, but there are ways in which we can mitigate its negative effects on our body and mind. In today’s podcast, I’m sharing some of my favorite stress-busting foods and some practical ways in which you can incorporate them into your diet.

When we are under stress, our brain sends out a series of signals to the adrenal glands, which in turn secrete hormones, including cortisol. Among other things, cortisol increases the concentration of glucose in our bloodstream and suppresses any non-essential bodily functions. You can read more about cortisol, how to normalize it, and see some of my favorite go-to cortisol-regulating meals in this mindbodygreen article I wrote.

So, while we can’t always control life’s stressors, we can eat foods which help lower our cortisol levels and help us regain a sense of calm. Some of these include Omega-3 fatty acids, complex carbohydrates, and foods rich in probiotics and prebiotics. In this week's episode, I go into detail about these foods and several others, so take a listen!

The information I share in this podcast episode is a small taste of the life altering hacks I share in my upcoming book, The Little Book of Game Changers: 50 Healthy Habits for Managing Stress & Anxiety, which you can pre-order here. The advice you’ll find in my book will help you make choices which will improve your health and wellness.
