In today’s episode I’m chatting with fellow dietitian, Frances Largeman-Roth, RD, who is a best selling author, and former magazine editor. Her latest book titled Smoothies & Juices: Prevention Healing Kitchen is filled with 100 beautiful and delicious smoothie recipes, and is also rich in great health information for optimal wellness. I simply love it!

I really enjoyed my chat with Frances and learned so much, but here are some of my favorite takeaways:

  • Smoothies are an easy way to nourish your body with a delicious and nutritious combination of foods.
  • Smoothies are super versatile, so feel free to experiment with them. When creating your smoothie, keep in mind that a combination of fruit and/or veggies and healthy fats and proteins is important.
  • If you want to have more than a liquid smoothie food experience, make a smoothie bowl -- it’ll feel more like a meal and open up a number of unexpected flavor combinations.
  • Being passionate about a project you’re taking on is key to your success.
  • Healthy living is doing what feels right for you on any particular day, and listening to your body and what it needs.
