As a dietitian and health coach, I get a lot of questions about how much protein one should consume, so I wanted to record this solo podcast to share some insight with you. Interestingly, I hear from people on both sides of the protein-eating spectrum: there are those who try to consume as much protein as possible, while others limit their intake. No matter where you are in your protein-consumption, there are some important things to know:

  • Protein makes up the building blocks of our organs, muscles, skin, and hormones; our body needs protein for healthy living and to maintain and repair tissues.
  • Protein helps us meet our needs for the essential amino acids we need to get from food.
  • Whether you eat meat or opt for a vegetarian or vegan diet, there are a variety of protein sources from which you can choose.
  • Various life and health stages impact our need for protein.

Hungry for more? In addition to the podcast, you can also check out my book, The Little Book of Game-Changers: 50 Healthy Habits For Managing Stress & Anxiety, where I have a chapter dedicated to protein intake.
